"Misschien wel haar meest persoonlijke project tot nu toe. Samen met deze gethematiseerde collectie aan Barok muziek vraagt Didonato de existentiële vraag:“in het midden van chaos, hoe vind je dan rust?”. Haar hoop is daarmee “to steer conversation and discourse to peace and to help all of us find peace in our lives in a dynamic way.”

In War and Peace is opgenomen samen met Il Promo d’Oro onder leiding van Maxim Emelyanychev. Het programma bestaat uit 15 aria’s verdeeld in twee selecties: War , en Peace. Beide secties bevatten muziek van Handel en Purcell , waaronder een stuk uit DidoenAeneas zowel als Almirena’s hartverscheurende ‘Lascia ch’io pianga’ uit Rinaldo.

Een stuk uit Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse is onderdeel van ‘Peace’ , welke afsluit met Cleopatra’s optimistische ‘Da tempeste il legno infranto’ uit Giulio Cesare.
